It dramatically improved the lives of South Koreans, a society with now one of the world’s longest life expectancies. Despite the progress that South Korea has made, inequality is still a challenge for society. It can begin at a young age for those who identify as a “dirty spoon,” but is also built into society at the level of gender. Inequality does not fade with age. South Koreans also face one of the developed world’s highest levels of old-age poverty. Troy Stangarone will present his thoughts on inequality in South Korea and the broader impact that they have on society.

Featured Speaker

Troy Stangarone

Troy Stangarone is Senior Director and Fellow at the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI).
